Ride the Costa Brava, the Pyrenees and our favorite track in Spain..
There's one small region that produces more MotoGP riders and Champions than any other, Catalunya. Leod Escapes has enlisted the help of local enthusiasts to show you the roads, the cantinas, the views, the food, and most importantly the curves that make this an ideal place to be a rider. We've taken our tradition of authenticity and gone full throttle here so get ready for some surprises. You stay in resort towns where locals riders go to escape the busy streets of Barcelona. You ride the same mountain and coastal roads local racers have ridden for generations. You'll feast on local meat and drink local Cava and Vi Negre wine. Your hotels will grace your eyes with views of the mountains, the sea and an amazing circuit. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is our favorite track in Spain and you've got three days to learn what locals call "Montmeló". Enjoy the precise feel of a new BMW S1000RR on the track, and as usual, upgrades to slicks and warmers are available. Our guides are local riders and have packed this tour with the best roads, food, views and everything else riders love so you will understand the core of what it means to be a Catalan rider.

Barcelona, capital of Catalunya, is a Mediterranean port city in northeastern Spain known for art, architecture, and vibrant street life. It blends Gothic quarters, modernist landmarks, beaches, and a strong local identity in Catalan culture. Like any old world port city, it's fun, ever changing but hardly aging. Take our tips and arrive a few days early.
Trying to exit Barcelona on your first day is just too much stress for riders adapting to time changes. This is why we start outside the city in Monteló. Your guides will be on hand to help you with any questions and shuttle everyone to the motorcycle rental station.. Then off we go towards the mountains. Your guides will lead the way but we divide the group into groups of 5 or smaller. In about 90min we will already be soaring along smoothly through hill country about to pull into our first coffee stop. We just keep climbing all day. Lunch will be high in the mountains eating the best Spain has to offer. What will be on your plate? Well you've been riding past it all morning. The goal is always to arrive in Puigcerda, your home in the mountains by late afternoon
This morning we immediately head for the mountain passes. We'll stop for some pictures at Coll de la Crueta and in Saldes. Our local connections will make sure a rather special motorcycle museum is open for us before we head to lunch in the old city streets of Cardona, home to Catalunya's most important old castle. Don't get too full, we've got a special snack spot this afternoon. We return again to Puigcerdá by way of twists and curves up over the Collada de Toses pass and back to our mountain home. Dinner choices abound, let's see what our local guides suggest.
We are heading to the coast today. After breakfast we'll do the Collada de Toses in the other direction then pick up some speedy sweepers to Ripoll. We'll grab some photos in the Volcanic Park of Garrotxa and keep the curves coming on the way to lunch. Lunch is a special spot off the beaten path but the chef goes all out. We finish with a run of curves along Montseny, a requirement for any rider who calls themselves Catalan. There's a few photo spots along the way. Our hotel is in the resort town of Platja d'Aro on a rocky promontory above the sea with wide beaches on either side. It's a special place locals from Barcelona escape to and it's our home for the next two nights. This is a resort town so there's lots of dining options tonight.
Today is another fun day of amazing curves but if you want to just relax on the beach, that's also an option. Today we ride down the iconic Costa Brava to Tosa De Mar before climbing the mountains once again. By now you should really be understanding why this region churns out so many pro riders. These are the roads that fill the weekends of all local riders. We stop again at a special lunch spot hidden on a back country road only local riders know. This place churns out Canelons, Croquettes and other tasty staples of Catalan fare for restaurants and delivery but if you know where to go, you can get these handmade delicacies right from the source. We'll take a different run along Montseny because that mountain just grows great motorcycling roads. Then we'll return to the Costa Brava so you can get the view from the lane next to the sea cliffs. So many choices for dinner lets meet for drinks above the sea and make a plan.
You didn't think we were going to take the highway did you? Oh no, we are up over a mountain pass on our way to an incredible vista high in the mountains. A great lunch in the old village of Mura and we are on to another mountain pass. We'll grab some photos before descending into fast sweepers on our way back to Montmeló. We'll get the street bikes returned and prepare for an early night because we are starting our track days at Circuit de Catalunya tomorrow.
It’s time to do your first day on this famed circuit. We are here to do more than just ride, we are here go home better track riders. You will be assigned a coach who will follow and occasionally video your progress. Today it’s about learning the lines of this circuit. You also are getting used to the new BMW S1000RR. If you've never ridden a bike with wings before get ready for a treat of that front end feel and confidence. The track surface is excellent and the facilities are top notch. Take a moment to realize you are actually here, at this legendary circuit.
The shuttle van and luggage van will get you to the circuit on time again. Your gear will be waiting for you in the garage boxes from yesterday. Expect some hot temperatures so your included custom VnM Sport top is going to come in handy. Follow the advice to drink plenty of water or you will get mentally fuzzy. Today it’s about boosting your speed and braking earlier but softer. Oh yeah and enjoying the day with track riders from all over the world.
It’s time to put it all together with some interesting body position strategies. Your lap times are dropping and your speeds are rising. You are starting to get a glimpse of what it’s like to ride this course like the pros do. Tonight we celebrate with a fine meal in Montmeló. We've got a suprise for you too.
If you didn't do it before the tour we recommend spending a few extra days in Barcelona. Please arrange and schedule before hand so we can make sure everyone gets to their flights on time. We've put a lot into this "Escape" to give you an authentic Catalan experience, hopefully you know understand why this is one of the regions that consistently produces riding champions. See you on your next "Escape".
